Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 303.75 to 301.47 points, a drop of 0.75 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.50 percent at 303.31 points against 304.84 points previously.
The equity market capitalization plunged by XOF 37.6 billion (about US$65 million) to close at XOF 7,485 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,522 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 1,133,219 traded stocks relative to 59,053 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1186.510 million (against XOF 921.623 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities via 221 deals.
Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 1,100,381 traded securities (accounted for about 97.10 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 537.447 million contributing nearly 45.02 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 118.09 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.56.
From the market movers’ perspectives, out of the 28 traded securities today, 7 stocks experienced price gains, 11 witnessed price drops and 11 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the gainers zone, PALM COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by adding 3.54 percent to end at XOF 14,495. SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 1.51 percent at XOF 168,000 and SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 102,500 by advancing 1.49 percent. BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE share price advanced by 1.37 percent to close at XOF 218,000 and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 27,000 after adding0.93 percent.
On the losers’ district, SGB COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 6.46 percent to settle at XOF 130,000 as the biggest loser and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 3.84 percent to trade at XOF 125,005. BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 2.44 percent to close at XOF 120,000. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE lost 1.63 percent to settle at XOF 23,500 and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE decreased by 1.38 percent to trade at XOF 28,600.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index grew by 0.36 percent at 163.35 points but public utilities sector index declined by 0.29 percent to end at 834.02 points. Financial services sector index declined by 1.52 percent to end at 109.32 points and distribution sector index lost 0.84 percent to end at 583.59 points. The agriculture sector index added 1.90 percent to close at 192.64 points. The transportation sector index rose by 1.35 percent to settle at 1,056.09 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
